Who is Ms. Farhangi? She was born in Los Angeles to Frances A. Walker (an immigrant from British Guyana, South America) and civic leader Louis E. Brathwaite who was on the Formation Committee for the City of Santa Clarita. Both of her parents passed away in 2001 and she feels that their love sustains her from beyond.

As a teenager, Ms. Farhangi participated in several national tours as a key member of the Bahá’í Youth Workshop. During her extensive travels, she frequently engaged in public speaking on various social topics relating to the human condition, such as the devastating effects of racism, the need for compulsory education and equality for all people.

Ms. Farhangi earned her Bachelor's degree from California State University Northridge in English Literature and her Master's degree from National University where she also earned her secondary teaching credential. She immediately put her degrees to good use as a middle and high school teacher for the Los Angeles, Norwalk-La Mirada, and Long Beach school districts. Believing strongly that education is the only way to eliminate the conditions of poverty and social injustice, Ms. Farhangi has constantly encouraged her students and others to make education their highest priority.

But, being a lover of the arts, Ms. Farhangi's splits her time between the arts and as a substitute teacher. She believes that everyone was created for a purpose and everyone has a right to fulfill that purpose.
